Lalit with Kate in Kalikot hospital, Nepal (a typical Nepalese leaving ceremony!)

Our first doctor-to-be was Lalit (se pictore on right): Lalit was desperate to train as a doctor, but with the total tuition fees running towards £25,000 this was never more than a dream.
He is just about to start his final year at Nepalgunj Medical college. he done exceptionally well throughout his course and is looking forward to practicing rural medicine.

Our new student Meena (started August 2011)

Meena (see picture on left) is 20 years old. She comes from one of the most deprived areas of Nepal. her father is a farmer, her mother uneducated and illiterate. She is the first student to win the Doctors For Nepal full scholarship from Patan Academy Kathmandu (new rural medical school - see link http://www.pahs.edu.np  ). In return for her tuition fees (scholarship) being covered from Doctors For Nepal, she will work in an isolated Nepal community for the following 4 years.
She says "It will be justice to my villages when I can help improve healthcare in the rural area".

By donating to the charity now, you will be supporting Meena, Lalit, and Nahakul's ongoing training, and thereby improving the healthcare of thousands of Nepalese in rural areas.
