What will the money be used for
We are now offering scholarships through Patan Academy of Health sciences (Kathmandu)
which opens in April 2010. The course is specifically designed to train
Nepalese doctors to work in rural Nepal. They have designed a stringent new
selection process to choose their medical students; our next student will be selected from a pool of students who have passed this selection process, and are eligible
for full scholarship.
The cost of training a Nepalese Medical student is approximately £25,000 for tuition
fees, £650 for books, and £1000 per year for accommodation and
food.
In order to raise this amount, we are looking for generous donations to get our
next student underway. To keep the 6 monthly medical school payments up, we
also need donors who are willing to pledge a fixed amount per month for ongoing training costs. To do this you can set up a direct debit with the Doctors For Nepal account (see above bank details).
